New Noize on a Juneteenth Fathers Day and I am happy to report it was a stellar Sunday. I did cover the Reggae Soundclash as the Cool Rullah is a dad and I can barely take care of myself.

New Noize song of the week belongs to Eva B with Rozi. Pakistani hip hop is starting to catch the wind & I look forward to watching her grow. Her single "Rozi" was featured at the end of episode 1 of Ms Marvel. It has that tri-state feel with that Pakistani masala drippin all over. This one needs to be eaten with your hands. Honorable mention goes to Dry Cleaning's new track "Don't Press Me" & FKA Twigs "Killer" What can I say the UK is bringing all the noise right now. Also new BORIS. AND FOR the select few that actually take the time to read all this nonsense, see I can pick other tracks than BORIS for Song/Album of the week. Truth be told, I was shocked as well.

Continuing my streak of highlighting music in video games I played a track by Blood Cultures specifically "Set it on Fire". Blood Cultures is doing the whole soundtrack to the upcoming game, Skate Story. What I know of the game so far is that it takes place in hell where you play a demon made of glass trying to escape hell, specifically skate your way out of hell which apparently is made up of surreal landscapes. The catch, if you wipe out you shatter because you are made of glass.

Album of the Week goes to Saya Gray "19 Masters" I do consider this a fringe record that will be underrated within the influx of music. I really hope this album gets more coverage, it has heavy notes of the avantgarde and small pop arrangements that is considered almost like a beat record due to the cacophony of sounds being clashed together. Plain and simple this is the type of shit I seek out and bump but not for everyone though I do recommend trying this fit out. You never know what anything looks like until you try it on and "19 Masters" is eyeing up that dressing room. To keep in line with the Song of the Week,  Album of the Week  honorable mentions goes to Σtella "Up and Away" It has a laid back Khruangbin vibe just not as psychedelic. It is a perfect summer beach day album when you are solo sipping some sort of tropical beverage under a shady umbrella, feet all up under the sand while your skin is leaking sweat because of all that heat.

That new J.Rocc record slaps as well.

 See ya next week.

Summer is upon us and this past weekend, if you are down you know it was Summer Game Fest 2022 which showcased a lot of upcoming content, mostly in video games but other forms of media including music. Unlike every other "specialty show" you could have access to mine was THE ONLY ONE to feature "Nemo Theme", from the upcoming video game "Little Nemo and the Guardians of Slumberland" by Die Soft Games. All the music for "Little Nemo and the Guardians of Slumberland" including "Nemo Theme" is done by Peter Berkman of Anamanaguchi. He was kind enough to hit me back with the track, gotta love the gram sometimes.

New Noize Song of the Week is a celebration of legend teaming up with a fairly new but still highly underrated rising monster creating a noise filled song full of ripping riffs and fuzzy feedback. I'm talking about "Tried To Understand" by SASAMI feat. J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr. Now did SASAMI have a song called "Tried To Understand"? Yes she does but apparently she rerecord a new version with J Mascis and i think this is much better and extremely different than the OG.

Album of the Week goes to Yann Tiersen "11 5 18 2 5 18" out on Mute right now. This album atmospheric, dissident, lightly experimental and subtly aggressive. Don't get me wrong, at times this goes HARD. It also works well if you have an infinite void to fill plus I just like it cover to cover.

IDK what the future holds but I do know I will be doing the Reggae Soundclash this Sunday before the New Noize Father's Day special, which is not really that special besides it being Father's Day.

Summer is almost upon us and there is an onslaught of new music and I will be the 1st to say it is a bountiful season of dopeness.

Album of the Week goes to Kamikaze Nurse with "Stimuloso". It is everything I like. They have a solid foundation of Sonic Youth and build upon that sound injecting their own style. It touches that drawn out 90s experimental rock feel with frantic movements with some current music elements that swirl into what Stimuloso is. The real test (this applies to every band in my opinion) is what Kamikaze Nurse sounds like live. Bands like Sonic Youth have so much variation to what you hear on their studio recordings versus what they do live. Will I see them live in a few Saturdays (6/18 at the Baader House & 6/19 at The Smell) down in LA? Up to the rock gods....

Quick mention must go to Horsegirl 1st record "Versions of Modern Performance". It's a gem and you should check this one out as well.

New Noize Song of the Week should be pretty obvious but since it must be said it's the Yeah Yeah Yeahs "Spitting Off the Edge of the World" which features Perfume Genius. Did I see them at their ultra secret show at the Teragram in LA? No, my magic is a bit off in 2022 but they did do this new single and a few more new songs(or so I heard). They brought the 4th "honorary" YYY member & LA native Imaad Wasif on stage and he seems to be touring with them for this record. "Spitting Off the Edge of the World" has a very Stranger Things 80s soul to it but I don't think their album will be anything like this. The YYY have such great diversity track to track on the majority of their studio albums so I am pretty confident that this will be another whirlwind of musical magnificence. "Cool It Down" drops September 30th though the tracklisting is already out:

Cool It Down:

01 Spitting Off the Edge of the World (ft. Perfume Genius)
02 Lovebomb
03 Wolf
04 Fleez
05 Burning
06 Blacktop
07 Different Today
08 Mars

I know it looks short, like really short. I mean I always want more YYYs so this is always a constant issue. I am slated to see them in October at the Hollywood Bowl and as of now there are still tickets available for this show.

Another quick mention, of Montreal released their new single, "marijuana's a working woman" and it's a straight BANGER. I am so looking forward to this record coming out on 7/29.

Catch you cats next Sunday.

Post Memorial Day announces are in and yes there was New Noize on Sunday. I hope you enjoyed this past music mix.

The New Noize Song of the Week is "Baby, I Had An Abortion" by the Petrol Girls. Why? America.

HAAi dropped her full length this past Friday, "Baby, We're Ascending", on Mute and per the norm it's full of bangers and atmospheric aggression but way more laid back from "Systems Up, Windows Down ''. To witness her progression in both style and sound has been inspiring for how fast it seems to be going, at least looking from the outside. It's exciting like her music, yet I haven't had the pleasure of seeing her perform but I can say, with confidence, that recorded she goes HARD.

Side Note: I discovered a band I have never heard of, Kamikaze Nurse. Their new album Stimuloso is out this Friday (Side side note: this maybe could have been the album of the week if it came out this past Friday) Now I know what you are thinking, here is yet another Japanese band that I am trying to push BUT joke's on you they are from Vancouver, BC. I am still diving deep into their back catalogue (which happens to just be a single record, Bucky Fleur which came out in 2019 so a fairly new band). Do they have Sonic Youth tendencies, definitely. So much so that the track I played "P & O" sounds like it was ripped from "Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Star" era. Am I mad about this? ABSOLUTELY NOT. It is a fantastic record and you will be hearing more about them, at least here on New Noize.
