I did it! I was able to get the intro music to Chainsaw Man and you know I played it on last nights New Noize set. Welcome to the latest installment of whatever this is.

Album of the Week was insanely hard for me to pick. I played a myriad potential contenders including Black Lips, Fazerdaze, MIA, Jesse Jo Stark, Palm, Gilla Band & Winter all of which you should check out but for me it has to go to "Quality Over Opinion", the newest album from Louis Cole. Flylo's label brainfeeder has produced another record that will be on all the “top 10 best records of 2022” and rightfully so. Sonically this album is all over the place, at times it feels like something you would hear in an old school Disney cartoon then transitions into this future tidal wave of aggressive sounds that you would hear in the slip stream of intergalactic space travel. Don't believe me, listen to "Bitches". On top all that the record clocks in at around 70 minutes! This is an achievement onto itself as albums now a days barely hit the 40 minute mark. Give Louis Cole your time and when you see him in these streets tell him your boy Haaris sent ya.

I started last night's set with the New Noize song of the week, DRY CLEANING "No Decent Shoes For Rain" At this point the record has to come out soon as they have released at least 3 other new songs. If someone says they have lost faith in bands then you should tell them to check out DRY CLEANING.

Side note. M.I.A. I KNOW. M.I.A. is riding that Kanye wave and I have strong feelings about it. M.I.A. is allowed to feel, say and express anything she wants and guess what SO CAN I! M.I.A. and I have similar come ups, we are both desi, both kids of immigrants, similar ages and both brought up in the west. Also we both work in the music industry where we are VASTLY underrepresented. M.I.A. however has broken the ceiling for ALL OF US way back when there was close to no representation of "US". She also was kind enough in her early career to give me a few interviews early in my radio career and anyone who has interviewed her will tell you she is gold. M.I.A. is like the older sister I never had, making it ok for me to rock my style, my ethnicity and myself. Words do not even begin to express her impact on me and for that I will be forever grateful. Her new record MATA is incredible but, and it's a BIG BUT, she has taken away from this release with her recent actions. Much like Kanye, M.I.A. has gone full christian, which is totally fine but for me but I would not adopt the religion of colonizers. It also makes me question her previous work where she shout outs "us" Muslims in a positive way, on this record not even a mention. Ali is not ok. To make matters worse she apparently believes that vaccines were a lie. Sweet Jesus not you too M.I.A. If she starts getting all MAGA on me then after a good cry I will have to reevaluate our mystic musical relationship. Humans grow and change & sometimes that change is different, so you in turn must change....Or something like that....Again I played new music from Kenshi Yonezu aka the intro music from Chainsaw Man.

See you next week.

New Noize in full effect this weekend bringing you an ultimate mix of all things new in this thing we call music.

The New Noize song of the week belongs to Fever Ray "What They Call Us". The fact that Fever Ray is back is exciting enough and I for one am looking forward to how this new record shapes out.

The New Noize Album of the Week goes to The Bobby Lees with Bellevue. The album is ridiculously short clocking in under 32 minutes. It pulls from a lot of similar older bands but their style trumps anything they have taken creating their own signature sound. Plus it's a fun record.

Side note on 2 events

CHAINSAW MAN IS COMING OUT TOMORROW. I have been waiting for this anime for about 2 years and the day has come. Everyone involved is a mega star in the anime game and my inner self has gone super sayjin 3 with anticipation.

2nd thing is on 11/3 aka GODZILLA DAY where the powers that be are releasing the 2002 film, Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla for the first time in U.S. theaters!!! Have I seen this movie before, yes. Will I will have to drive over 45 minutes to see this flick. Yes. Is this the reason I am still single, yes.

See ya next Sunday

Roctober is officially here and so am I. Before I move forward I wanna thank my parents for giving me 2 brothers that I love more than they will ever know. Happy birthday Hamza and Rohan, both born on October 1st, 8 years apart.

I saw Wu Tang this past Friday and it was much better than I thought. Wu actually kicked off the show, then Nas came out and did a bunch of tracks with Wu, then just NAS, then Busta Rhymes and then more Wu Tang. It was great and hit all the nostalgia feels.

QUICK PROGRAM NOTE: A few of the heavier songs in hour #2 didn't make it to the playlist as they have not dropped yet on any streaming platforms.

Album of the Week is a no brainer, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs release a short but thick record "Cool It Down" I will be seeing them at the Hollywood bowl on Thursday

New Noize Song of the Week goes to Jamie xx with "Kill Dem" off Young. Jamie xx just played the Hollywood Bowl over the weekend and my FOMO is real.

Also we are into fall anime season and are less than a week away from chainsaw man, an anime EVERYONE should check.

I'm back!!! I took a small vacation to Portland and missed last Sunday's New Noize. Since then I have seen a few things...

BORIS & Nothing played a show at Revolution Hall in Portland which was great. After the show I was walking to a spot and bumped into Nothing while they were loading out, they were a nice group of humans. BORIS killed it and fucked around and got a set list.

The following day I saw Spoon open up for Interpol in downtown PDX and it was magical. Spoon during sunset as the crows of Portland flew overhead was a moment I will remember. I have never seen Interpol at a venue so small. I will be back Portland.

The fun did not stop there. This past Thursday I went down to LA with our Music Director and all around Mr Cool Guy Dave to check out IRON MAIDEN! I don't know how many tours they have left but they were INCREDIBLE. Those metalheads maybe old but not a trace of rust, twas a spectacle to behold.

I tried to pack 2 shows in 1 this past Sunday and what a killer show it was.

I kicked the show off with the Song of the Week "Laiyan" by Natasha Noorani Pakistani clan is out in 2022. Honorable mention goes out to the METZ with Joe Talbot of the IDELS for "Come On Down".

Album of the Week goes to No Age with "People Helping People". Hands down this is one of my favorite records they have done and they have come a LONG WAY since 2007 Weirdo Rippers record. Mature yes, but so much fun and joy is captured in between these 13 songs it hard not to smile as this ignites both hemispheres of your brain.

Am I going to see the new Gundam movie, "MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM: CUCURUZ DOAN'S ISLAND" only in theaters for 2 days and am so psyched but have to drive over an hour to see it. COME ONE SANTA BARBARA WE NEED ANIME HERE!

Also seeing the Wu Tang Clan on Friday.

Until next Sunday party people.
