Live from the East Coast, YUP I'm in Florida, surprised moms for Mother's Day plus I'm spending the remaining days of the Holy Month of Ramadan with the parents out here. No worries as I used some radio magic to achieve New Noize this past Sunday.

This Sunday set brought us some surprise singles from the Liars, Mndsgn, Laura Marling and Mike Lindsay as "LUMP" & Wavves but the real fun came from all the full lengths that dropped. I dived deep on a number of LPs including Squid(I played 2010 & I dare you not to say that the intro doesn't give you Radiohead vibes), Iceage, AIM, Blue Cactus, Kardashev, Artillery & Benny Sings. Also I had to keep going to Yasuke OST by Flying Lotus, it seriously is a thick record full of amazing moments so don't be surprised if you see it on next Sunday's show.

AHHH did you see what Pearl Jam did this weekend? Apparently they have released EVERY BOOTLEG LIVE ALBUM SINCE 2000!!!! That is SO MUCH content, someone at Spotify just achieved a slam dunk but I would bet my bottom dollar Pearl Jam got paid out.

ALSO how do we feel about this new Venom trailer???

I mean we have strayed HARDCORE off the Spidey origins and the nerd in me wants to instantly hate this BUT the cast consists of 2 of the best actors out there in Tom Hardy (Venom) & Woody Harrelson as Cletus Kasady aka Carnage. Guess we will all find out this September.

Lastly Happy 60th birthday to one of the greatest drummers of all time Tool's own Danny Carey.

New Noize is coming at you as it always does. This week's New Noize combined 2 of my favorite things, new music and anime. Yasuke is a real life historical figure who turned into legend and story has just become popular in the last 2 decades. If you know anything about Samurai culture you already know that to become Samurai you must, MUST be Japanese. So how did a black man become a Samurai? This history is crazy and you should research it...Oh you thought I was gonna tell you??? Nope, do the knowledge yourself and attain wisdom.

I will however get into Flying Lotus and his interpretation of this legendary symbol. Let's just get the obvious out the way, the OST and musical score is my favorite of 2021 so far. Flying Lotus Yasuke record cover to cover is one of the best electronic records of 2021. He also produced this anime and did a few sequences. This anime SHINES with its main character and how many tropes it DOES NOT use. For example, darker anime characters and ESPECIALLY BLACK & BROWN anime characters all start off being weak or needing some sort of assistance. Yasuke put this trop on it's side when you see his origin story and how he just son's a samurai using his bare fists. This also directly speaks to racism that was prevalent back in Japan and still is today. Racism, classism and sexsim are front and center themes that most anime's wouldn't dare tread but Yasuke is not your run of the mill samurai anime. Some people had an issue with the art direction, I did not but the storyline gets a bit loose during the last 2 episodes (a total of 6 episodes) but overall the anime is fantastic & if you're reading this I implore you to check out Yasuke on Netflix and bang Yasuke OST HARD in whatever soundsystem you are using.

Song of the week is a tie!!!

The glorious cacophony of "Well Rested" by Kero Kero Bonito is 7+ minutes of song that keeps building and building until your inner eye starts to weep tears of joy (but no pan flute was used). CHAI's "PING PONG" is a deep dive of chiptune heavy goodness that any gamer or adjacent gamer would enjoy.

Riz GOT ROBBED!!!! The Oscars were last night & and an 83 year old Sir Anthony Hopkins snagged the golden idol from my heavy favorite and fellow Ahmed, Riz (no relation but maybe?) You still are a winner for all us Desi's meera yaar.

Regardless, New Noize was pretty high on those BPM's. Modeselektor is my clear focus as I played tracks off their new record Extended and their EP Mean Friend. These German's are trying to claim that top spot for best record of 2021, if you haven't experienced the awe which is Extended by Modeselektor what are you doing with your ear holes?

My favorite track from this past Sunday has to be Kero Kero Bonito's "When The Fires Come", more bands need to incorporate the pan flute. As soon as the pan flute kicked in it I was transported to the brokedown coliseum in Karate Kid II. I felt the crisp Okinawa night breeze while watching Daneil-son vs Chozen Toguchi in a fight not only for the honor of Mr Miyagi but the hand of Kumiko. Also I need to print out some Kumiko shirts.

Also I WENT TO A CONCERT!!!!! Well a private show but whatever it still counts. The last concert I went to was Tame Impala in 2020 down in LA. I made my concert comeback on 4/20 & got to see Flying Lotus in, you guessed it, LA. Glass House Farms threw the party and when I arrived I was gifted with free weed, FREE WEED! All shows moving forward need to provide their patrons free weed, there is no going back!

I will be back next Sunday though will an all new 2 hour set of new music.

New Noize update + 1 week down in Ramadan, talk about winning!

Behold the Brutality of New Noize, at least the 1st 1/2 of hour 1. I was ultra excited to dive deep into the new Cannibal Corpse record and apparently Gojira is releasing their new record "Into The Storm" single by single. If this French Progressive Metal band continues this trend we should have the whole record in the next 10 weeks or so (if the record is 14 tracks long that is, which is pure speculation at this point) I went PLUS ULTRA (My Hero Academia anime reference {Can Haaris go doing a weekly write up WITHOUT mentioning anime? I think not} for all my Almight Fans out there) with the new Endseeker. I mean who doesn't like German Death Metal? I mixed in some deep dives from Dry Cleaning, SPIRIT OF THE BEEHIVE, Show Me The Body(I know its only an EP but its a really good EP) & tUnE-yArDs all gunning for my favorite records of 2021 and we aren't even at the half way mark in the year!

Hour 2 was not as aggressive as hour 1 yet my anticipation for the new Mndsgn is palpable at this point. Just released these groovy jams already Stones Throw!!!!
