I’m back, but did you even notice I was gone? Probably not, but hey, we did the damn thing last night, and it was a killer New Noize set.

New Noize Song of the Week goes to none other than the force of nature herself—someone I’ve been obsessed with for a while. In my mind’s eye, she’s the ideal human. I love her so, so, SO much. Constantly evolving, always expressing herself in a way that’s 100% her, but it’s all from this vulnerable place, not the authoritative vibe most of pop’s pushing these days. Oh, and she’s got a movie out—which I’m obviously gonna see just because she’s in it. Maybe one day I’ll get to call her Tahliah, but the world knows her as FKA Twigs. The track? "Eusexua." Check it out, and do yourself a favor—watch the extended video on YouTube, or just click right here:

New Noize Album of the Week? That title goes to one of the most joyful releases of 2024: Ginger Root’s latest album SHINBANGUI. It’s got this retro vibe but with modern grooves that’ll have even the stiffest among us tapping their feet. If I have one gripe, it’s that I wish this dropped earlier in the summer—it’s got that kind of feel. But hey, SoCal fall is basically summer for most of the country anyway.

While I’m at it, shoutout to Soft as Snow’s upcoming album Metal.wet. It’s art/noise rock but way more digestible than, say, Merzbow. Plus, it’s cohesive enough to share with friends who aren’t into noise. It drops on 11/8—mark your calendars.

And one more thing—the new Toro y Moi album? Straight fire. Play that thing front to back.

I’ve got a ton of shows lined up over the next few weeks, so don’t be a stranger—holla if you see me out there.

Oh, and dating sucks.

Until next Sunday, my peoples.

I love a long weekend, but that didn’t stop me from dropping a Sunday night New Noize session. So yeah, you’re getting this update a bit later than usual.

There’s a lot going on, so I’ll try to keep it brief—keyword try.

New Noize Album of the Week? No surprises here—it’s "Wild God" by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. If you know me, you saw this coming. Sure, there were plenty of other killer LPs that dropped including new Jon Hopkins, Horse Jumper of Love, Los Bitchos, Why Bonnie, and Doechii. Speaking of Doechii, her album, Alligator Bites Never Heal, might just crack my top 10 of the year. But right now, I’m vibing hard with that Nick Cave.

Oh, and Afterimage is dropping a retrospective LP—so far, we’ve got two demos. Keep your ears peeled.

Now, let’s give some love to the EPs. Aerial M hit us with a 3-song banger that clocks in at over 30 minutes—my kind of EP. Ty Segall’s new one sounds like it was recorded at SYR (shoutout to Sonic Youth’s label). It’s not for everyone, but it’s definitely for me—and it’s been driving the neighbors crazy all weekend.

New Noize Song of the Week goes to Caribou with "Come Find Me." They’ve got a new album, Honey, dropping later this year, and I’m hyped. They’ve already released four tracks as of this writing, and they’re all fire.

Yes, I played Oasis. It’s the 30th anniversary of Definitely Maybe, and they’re on tour. Don’t @ me.

This week, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 drops on early access, and I’m all over it. But that means I’ve got to finish Black Myth: Wu Kong in two days—I’m on Chapter 5. I’ll rant about Black Myth in another write-up, but for now, just know it’s an incredible game.

Next week, I’m taking you for a ride—Marvel vs. Capcom Collection drops as a timed exclusive next Friday, giving me a solid week on the new Warhammer.

And the week after that? The fall season of lawn bowling kicks off, and I’m hooked. It's the new pickle ball but better and nothing like that tennis rip off.

Oh, and I’m not even getting into all the shows I’m hitting this month. By the way, did you catch the new Terminator Zero anime that dropped on Judgment Day (August 28th)? It’s one of Netflix’s best 2024 releases.

I tried to keep it brief—this is what happens.

Until next time.

Well, the fun couldn’t last forever. This past Sunday’s New Noize marked the return to my regular 9-11 PM slot. The last few shows, I got spoiled with that extra hour, and believe me, I was loving every minute of it. But hey, we’re back to 2 hours now—short but sweet.

In those 2 hours, though, you got a tight set. The New Noize Song of the Week goes to KAZIMI with "Can’t Stop Me." Absolute fire.

As for the New Noize Album of the Week, it was a tough call. I could’ve easily gone with Sofi Tukker, SPIRIT OF THE BEEHIVE, Sabrina Carpenter, or JakoJako. But nah, this week belongs to the kids from GEL. Their new EP, "PERSONA," rips hard and claims the title. Yeah, I know it’s an EP—don’t @ me.

And yeah, I’m super late to the game, but I just discovered Mr. Robot. What a show. I’m hooked and burning through seasons, so please, no spoilers.

Catch you next Sunday.

Another 3-hour New Noize set? Why the hell not. It’s 2024, folks—buckle up and roll with the chaos.

Kicking off this 3-hour marathon session, I had the pleasure of opening with NYC’s own The Giraffes, back from the abyss with their new single, "The Shot." Welcome back, legends. The energy in that first hour was electric, with new sounds from Santa Barbara’s finest, Gardens & Villa. Their track "Jewels" took me on a sonic journey—think dreamy, elevated vibes that linger in your ear long after the song’s over. Hungry for more? Yeah, me too.

Hour two brought the heat with the latest from Flying Lotus, "Garmonbozia," which also snagged the coveted New Noize Song of the Week. This hour was packed, with new fire from LISA featuring Rosalía on "NEW WOMAN," and finally spinning Hanumankind’s "Big Dawgs." Sorry for the delay, my Desi brother—it was worth the wait.

And let’s not forget the last hour, where I hit you with fresh tracks from Billie Joe Armstrong and an interesting collab between Jean Dawson and Lil Yachty. Definitely something to chew on.

The Album of the Week goes to Pom Poko with "Champion" This record might be flying under the radar, but trust me, it’s pure joy in audio form. Give it a listen—you’ll be smiling by track two.

Some other gems from this New Noize set include The Linda Lindas’ "No Obligation," Cloud Cult’s "Alchemy Creek," and The Clearwater Swimmers’ self-titled debut.

One album I didn’t play (because the label left me hanging) but still deserves a shout-out is Tinashe’s "Quantum Baby." It’s a tight R&B record—short but sweet. Picture Tinashe taking you on an endless vacation, which is exactly how this album feels.

And lastly, let’s talk "Alien Romulus." If you’re new to the Alien franchise, this is your gateway drug. But if you’re like me and prepped by binging all the Alien movies (yes, even AVP) in canon order, you’re in for a treat. I won’t spoil anything, but let’s just say it’s easily one of 2024’s best. And yes, I’m already hyped for "Alien: EARTH."

Catch you next week.
