I'M BACK, BABY! After missing three Sundays in a row, your favorite new music show is back with a three-hour special! Why three hours, you ask? Well, I covered the show before mine, and it just kind of worked out that way. But don’t let the extra runtime fool you—this one’s packed with purpose.

Truth be told, I had a ton of new music to catch up on, and I think I’ve finally conquered that mountain. So much dropped recently that it was borderline overwhelming. Hopefully, Sunday night’s set helped you navigate through the last big wave of 2024’s releases.

Programming Note
I’ve been diving back into my past shows from this year to prep for the Best of 2024 set (coming soon!). And yes, I’ve realized I missed some major releases—ugh, it happens. Life, schedules, and the chaos of it all. But I have a system: if I miss something big, I play it now.

Case in point: Cindy Lee’s "Diamond Jubilee" record. It’s absurdly good, and for reasons unknown, I didn’t play it when it dropped. So, I gave it the shine it deserved this past Sunday. My bad, y’all. Won’t happen again… until it does.

Album of the Week
This week’s crown goes to Father John Misty with Mahashmama. It’s one of his shorter albums, but wow—every song is written so well. It’s a cover-to-cover masterpiece that’ll captivate and (dare I say) imaginate your world. Is that a word? It is now.

And no, Kendrick Lamar’s GMX release didn’t snag it this time. I need more time to sit with K. Dot’s new record. Simmering is a must, people.

New Noize Song of the Week
This week’s pick: Goat Girl with "Gossip." Absolute fire.

Next week is the last New Noize of the year. The following week, we’re diving into the New Noize Holiday Music Special, and after that, it’s the Best of New Noize 2024. LET’S FREAKING GO GO GO!

WTF America? I am not the majority and that's ok. Saying I’m not happy would be putting it lightly, but I’ve got a lot on my plate right now, so I’ll deal with this mess next year. But damn, I do feel for the environment, women, Muslims, and teachers—you’re about to be FUCKED.

And before anyone comes at me, let’s be clear: I believe in actions. The last time King Orange was in power, these groups got hit hard, and I’m not expecting anything different. I hope I’m wrong, but I know I’m not. For me, not voting for a racist was an easy call, but clearly not for the majority of Americans. And no, I’m not saying you’re a racist if you voted for Trump, but come on—you know he is, right?

Now, on to something that doesn’t make me want to scream into the void. The New Noize Album of the Week goes to Freak Slug with I Blow Out Big Candles. This one was a tough pick—it was neck and neck with the new Variety record, Sub-Topical, which is RAD.

Song of the Week goes to Tunde Adebimpe with “Magnetic” Wait, Haaris, didn’t that drop in October? Yes, loyal New Noize fan, you’re correct. But I only got around to it this past Sunday, so here we are.

Speaking of happenings, this will be the last New Noize for a bit. I’ll be back in mid-December. Until then, peace out, my people.

It’s ya boy back, right before SUPER TUESDAY, and let me tell you, I’m not exactly feeling the “super” part. This election? Not something I’m buzzing about. Neither candidate is out here with the plan I want, but yeah, I’m still voting. Why? Because I like to complain—a lot. And I mean complain complain about anything and everything. Voting is my ticket to complain guilt-free for the next four years, so you bet I’m going to cast that ballot. You should too, so we can complain together.

On a brighter note, I had a BLAST doing New Noize. I threw in a few tributes, including the original 1954 Godzilla theme, because our King of All Monsters just turned 70! If you follow me on Instagram, you were fully bombarded with Godzilla content. I also slipped in MF DOOM’s “Fazers” (aka King Geedorah himself) as a nod to the metal-faced legend.

Opened the set with the New Noize Song of the Week: “Help Desk” by Wand. This release is a trip—they dropped two new tracks with remixes of those, so it’s technically an EP, but it’s longer than some full albums out there. Bottom line: I need more.

The New Noize Album of the Week goes to none other than Flying Lotus with Spirit Box. I’ve been playing this EP front to back since it dropped, and every listen pulls up something new. One of the best releases of 2024, no question.

This week, I’m hitting up Sofi Tukker at the SB Bowl—the last show of the 2024 season there, sadly.

I’ll be back for Sunday’s show, then going on a little break until December.

Oh, and yeah, in case it wasn’t clear: vote.

Lots going on right now:

  • The Yankees are really testing my patience.

  • Halloween’s a few days away.

  • Godzilla’s hitting the big 70.

Then there’s the election. And yes, it's personal this time, no question. But here’s the deal: just vote. Anyone telling you how or who to vote for? Fuck em. Voting is your right, it’s private, and it’s nobody’s business but yours. We’ll get through Nov. 6, don’t worry. Meanwhile, the world keeps spinning—kids in Gaza are still dying, Earth’s ecosystem is still on fire.

Also, New Noize.
