I was hit with a sonic avalanche of new music this past week and I gladly accepted my fate. Welcome to another edition of New Noize.

So many records came out this Friday that it was a bit overwhelming but I made it work. We had albums drop from Janelle Monae, Baxter Dury, Squid, Christine and the Queens, feeble little horse, King Krule, Jenny Lewis, Half Moon Run, and more. Anyone of these could have been the New Noize Album of the Week so I went with the Japanese Canadian outfit known as TEKE::TEKE with "Hagata". They have been spoon-feeding us singles for this new record all year and to hear “Hagata" cover to cover is a treat. I have been a fan of this band for a while and fingers crossed I get to see them do their thing live. On a serious note, all of these artists deserve your time.

No surprise to anyone ROSALÍA locked down the New Noize Song of the Week with "TUYA"

I am working on getting music for some upcoming video game releases including some gaming music that came out earlier this year on the set next week. Talking about gaming what a time to be alive! Final Fantasy XVI had a great weekend event culminating in dropping the demo at 1 am today. Did I download it? Yes. Did I play it at 1 am when it dropped? Yes. This is what happens when you are single in your 40s. I still am nowhere near completing Legend Of Zelda Tear of the Kingdom, haven't cracked open the new Street Fighter and I haven't even talked about some other upcoming releases. ALSO, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (which I am hoping comes out on my birthday next year cause the last one did) is releasing on 2 ps5 discs!!! That is insane.

I'll catch you cats next week.

Hey yo, another New Noize has come and gone. So what happened?

Look at that playlist. I mean what a mix. Seriously I went through my own list of specialty shows that came out this past weekend and I just killed it. Sometimes you have to be your own hype man.

New Noize Song of the Week goes to Blonde Redhead with "Snowman" If you are a Blonde Redhead fan and are in LA this week they are playing the Zebulon this Wednesday.

The New Noize Album of the Week goes to Khanate with "To Be Cruel" This album came out of nowhere as the band hasn't been a band for something like 14 years. It's only 3 tracks and over 1 hour long! This experimental doom outfit is not for everyone but if you like this style this will look amazing on you, trust.

I also saw the new Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse and OMA this one hits. I didn't think it could get better than the first one that came out in 2018 but they did it! What a sequel. This trilogy will be up there with Star Wars (the OG 3) and the Matrix trilogies. There is so much more I want to say but won't cause spoilers. I want to thank the creators who included South Asian Spider-Man, and yes, I am jealous of that hair.

Long weekends mean late updates to New Noize. I hope everyone's memorial day weekend went well. I spent the majority of my time running through Hyrule under an overcast Santa Barbara sky. I'm not complaining... Also apologies for the missing tracks this week. Apparently, Spotify doesn't like metal.

New Noize Song of the Week goes to the new single by George Clanton. His vaporwave style is expanding in all the right ways and those ways give me Deftones vibes if the Deftones did vaporwave. Definitely for the kids that like that 90s era sound.

The New Noize Album of the Week was close to impossible to pick. I mean you had new records from Water From Your Eyes, Stuck, Arlo Parks, AJJ, Temps, Kassa Overall, and Kari Faux. All of these records are amazing but this week the cream of the crop goes to Saya Gray with QWERTY. The record is under 18 minutes but what a 17 minutes and 22 seconds. Exciting, bold, fun, untraditional, what I like to call "avante garde lite" and so much more encapsulates what this record is trying to do. I implore you to listen to all the records I just mentioned with Saya Gray's QWERTY at the top.

Did anyone know that Final Fantasy XVI is coming out in 23 days!!!! I don't think I have ever overlapped a Zelda game with a Final Fantasy game but it's happening whether I like it or not. FFXVI is already causing controversy as it is a full-on action game and has ditched all the RPG elements that make a FF game. Normally I would be really upset about this but then I think about how I initially reacted to the FFVII remake, specifically about the newly revamped gaming mechanic. I was upset, talking shit, and wasn't about it until I got the game and was like OH SNAPS this change works. So I will reserve all judgment until I start playing this new installment of one of my favorite gaming franchises.

Also Street Fighter this week!

Hey there party people. I just found out I have a 4 day long weekend and did not plan accordingly. Corporate calendars am I right?!?!?! It is what it is, let's talk New Noize.

This week's New Noize Album of the Week comes all the way from Karachi Pakistan, specifically Slowspin with "TALISMAN". It is a fantastic record that should grab your attention especially if you rocked with Arooj Aftab. Slowspin standsout soincally and is very difrrent from Arooj but they have a similar style. Check out TALISMAN from cover to cover. I also have to mention Salami Rose Joe Louis new album that also just dropped, "Akoumatikous"  which I could not pronounce on air but I highly recommend. Brainfeeder aka Flying Lotus' label does not miss. Summer Salt also came out with a perfect companion album for nice weather, "Campanita". Now I just need this fog layer to burn off. Another fantastic record you should check out is "Tracey Denim" by bar italna off Matador Records.

The New Noize Song of the Week was no surprise to anyone who knows the show or myself. Anderson Paak and Knxwledge aka NxWoories just dropped their new single "Daydreaming" and it has some sick guitar licks. They have one other newish track that they premiered back in the beginning of this year with H.E.R. on guest vocals. This album is in top 10 most highly anticipated records.

There is still so much to talk about, movies, anime and summer vacation but I'll save that for next time.
