Better late then never, apologies for the tardiness. Life is coming at me at all angles so I'll keep it brief.

I played a bunch of metal as a red full moon was rising on Sunday night's set, it felt like the right thing to do.

New Noize's Song of the Week belongs to Alice Longyu Gao with "Kanpei". I don't know if she is just going to keep releasing singles but to be honest I don't care. Also how is she still not signed???

SO many amazing records dropped this past Friday but the one who has the coveted New Noize Album of the Week is KUNZITE with "VISUALS". If you are looking to fill the void that Ratatat left, KUNZITE got you cause Ratatat is on at least half of all the tracks on this full length.

Lastly I watched Snake Eyes, it was ok.

See you next Sunday.

This Friday saw the release of Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time AND IT WAS GREAT!!! So great that I bookended the start and finish of this past New Noize Sunday session with music from the latest release. Well, technically the first song I played was from 3.33 You Can (Not) Redo and the last song, "One Last Kiss" is the last song from Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time.

New Noize was stellar as always though there is a slight metal deficiency that will be corrected come this Sunday's set.

Song of the Week belongs to the Cots with "Flowers". They would have got my album of the week but Wednesday's full length LP "Twin Plagues" snatched that title this week.

Olympics DONE, Fiesta DONE, New Noize done & will keep on going. HI EVERYONE!!! We made it another week and it was a busy one! Some much to go through so I will give you skinny, lets start music.

So Donda did not come out this week & I love Kanye so I am looking forward to whenever he decides to release the album. If you watched his 2nd live stream of Donda you saw Yeezus ascend into heaven! Or if you were wearing sunglasses, the top of the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

Kanye, however, was not the only person to have a surprise album drop this past Friday. Liars releases "The Apple Drop" and did a live secret show too boot & though they didn’t have a stadium to live in to finish up the album. Instead the Liars did a live set at Phoenix Central Park in Sydney, check the video here:

Liars "The Apple Drop" is the New Noize Album of the Week.

This weeks single was a HARD ONE as there was so much to choose from. In the end the New Noize song of the week is "SASAMI "Sorry Entertainer" Sasami rips through the whole track with heavy riffs and that post gunge noise which is personal fav of mine.

I saw a few movies in the actual movie theaters! 1st up the Green Knight, which I thought was incredible but is not for everyone. This flick was “artsy” and a touch Japanese in that there was not a lot of dialogue. Instead the cinematography did the talking along with the excellent set design, costumes, tripped out effects and hyper violence. Dev Patel really shined in his role and held the movie together as you saw this coming of age story. Not to give to much away but if you have seen the Temptation of Christ & liked it then set yourself up for the Green Knight.

I also saw the new Suicide Squad movie & IDK why everyone is hating it. It was a great ride, highly entertaining and made to be seen on the big screen. Rather than dive deep I HAVE to give ultimate props to Margot Robbie for being the best thing about this movie and her previous appearances as Harley Quinn. There is a specific scene/sequence that solidified Margot as Miss Quinn and OH MY BATMAN did she deliver. Clearly there was a focus on making her a main character with agency and a badass killer of killers. Great job writers.

Lastly this Friday its finally here, Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time. I will be watching the crap of this final film on Amazon prime, should we do a view party? I’m down.

We are FINALLY in August which means the onslaught of live music is about to begin. If you want to see an artist/band you will be able to see them as EVERYONE is going on tour from now until August of 2022.

This Sunday I decided to put the electronic artists right up front. In fact, New Noize Album of the Week belongs to foodman's "Yasuragi Land" which is out everywhere & released by Hyperdub. It is the Olympics plus I am a fan of all things Japanese so this record just fit.

Song of the week showed up in hour #2 with Penelope Isles' new single "Sailing Still". Their last record "Until the Tide Creeps In" was a fantastic debut & am really looking forward to their full length release later this year on Bella Union.

Side note, well not really as anyone who frequents this site knows my absolute LOVE for Evangelion and on August 13th it all comes to an end. The final movie in the tetrology of the Evangelion Rebuild series, Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time, is arriving on our shores on August 13th. Neon Genesis Evangelion will always be one of my favorite anime series ever since I laid eyes on the original series via Adult Swim, specifically on the Saturday night anime nights, back in 1995. It was the 1st anime that showed me that this medium should be taken seriously. With so many subversive themes under a visual spectacle of giant robo-mechs battling alien angles during the last days of humanity to usher in a new era. I can go on and on and on and have many times right here about all things Eva but I will try to keep it contained. The series came to me when I was a teenager, much like the main protagonists of this series. I grew up in the 90s & so much of the content reflects so much of that time, our issues & the way we connect with each other. The original series' contentious ending caused the director/creator Hideaki Anno to amend this with 2 follow up films to close out the story BUT he was not satisfied. Anno claimed that the technology was not up to speed with the story he wanted to tell & with the popularity of the series his next goal was to retell this story in 4 movies, aka the "Rebuild" series. The first film, Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone came out in 2007, which I saw at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival in all its glory & set the bar high for the rest of the 3 films. I was fortunate enough to see the 2 following films at the SBIFF as well, thanks Roger Durling. Fast Forward to the 4th movie in the tetralogy, Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time, released in Japan last year and it is finally hitting US shores via Amazon next Friday, 8/13. If that wasn't enough Amazon is releasing all 4 movies on the 13th & if you are a prime member you can watch it FOR FREE! Yes I have been waiting on this ending since 2007, so 14 years and its finally coming to a close. I have been careful not to spoil anything and am looking forward to next Friday's marathon run as well as getting back on twitter.

I urge everyone to check out both the rebuilt movie series along with the original TV series (with the additional anime movie for the true ending) on Netflix.

Sayōnara Evangelion.

I'm not crying...see you next week.
