September started out HOT HOT HOT. SoCal, according to science, currently has a dome of heat that is baking locals including your boy. Despite getting cooked I did some things...

I saw Flume at the Santa Barbara Bowl and what a shit show. Flume was great and I got a chance to catch TSHA's set, which she killed BUT there was something in the air. Not to get into a lot of details but people were getting tossed out, falling over and I saw many MANY people that could not handle their "good time". Lets just say there was a lot of sand covering the concrete...I KNOW at a Flume show???? As I get older I understand much MUCH less.

This week I will be seeing Little Dragon & Leon Bridges hopefully with a normal laid back Santa Barbara crowds that I'm used to.

Despite the long weekend there was New Noize and apologies ahead. I cut so much off as I could not fit all this new music into 2 hours.

So many new records dropped over the last few Fridays it was hard to even keep track. Muse, Two Door Cinema Club, and zzzahara all dropped new full lengths. SYAMESE EP is great. I also got the new Revocation record early and once your ears get on it they will bleed with joy. So who got the New Noize Album of the Week? It is between 2 records. Kenny Beats has finally released his 1st solo album and it BANGS! If no fire records come out this Friday it will be next week's pick (my foreshadowing is not subtle) Eyedress dropped a new album which was a HUGE surprise since he usually releases a nice amount of singles but not this time. "FULL TIME LOVER" is a celebration of all of Eyedress' musical style, growth, influence, impact and career. He has a signature sound/feel but dips his toes in many different genres. Basically this album takes all of his previous work and provides you a roadmap to all things Eyedress. It goes all over the place, but in a particular order that seems very premeditated. FULL TIME LOVER starts out with his refined sound that is a mishmash of all his styles but quickly decontructs to his early work of lo fi garage rock then ramps to his style of avante punk rock with some guest features. Talking "features" there are a ton on this record that complement the album and fit right in rather than overpower or standout. Then when you are raring to go, blood pumping he chills you out with his chill laid back songs with strung out chords and wavy melodies. As soon as you get comfy he fuzzes you up with these fun after school jams then Eyedress makes a hard left turn into the R&B portion of the album. At the final stretch all of a sudden we are now listening to hip hop as my body naturally starts bouncing. WHAT A JOURNEY!!!! it's like New Noize only all of it is on 1 record.

The New Noize Song of the Week is "Tongo Barra" by Vieux Farka Touré et Khruangbin out now on Dead Oceans. It's a Khruangbin colab with guitarist Vieux Farka Touré and they are putting out a whole record that I will be copping once released.

At this point I would wrap things up but I HAVE to say something in my SIDE NOTE for this week.

SIDE NOTE: I like to keep things light but we are officially screwed as humans. I mentioned the heat in SoCal at the top...According to reality 1/3 of Pakistan is under water. Let that sink in, one of the highest populations of humans that make less than 1% of greenhouse emissions globally has suffered from all of our actions including my own. Obviously I am deeply impacted by this as my parents are from Pakistan and I have loved ones (family & friends) that lives will be never the same. The saddest thing is how much the world has turned a blind eye to this. Pakistan is one of the highest exporters of cotton yet the fashion community stays silent. The flood has impacted this industry so badly that the entire culture of cotton in Pakistan may be gone due to those lands never being able to recover. This will affect us here in the USA as we will see prices rise. Same with Denim, Pakistan produces the majority of the worlds Denim so get ready for those Lucky jeans to get even more expensive. Bollywood, an industry that Pakistan helped build (but in recent years has gone as far as banning all Paksitani's from being in the industry) has stayed silent. The floods in Pakistan are a precursor of the changes the earth is making due to our impact on the climate. If you want to actually do something DONATE MONEY. And donate directly to organizations & nonprofits that work with the people DO NOT DONATE TO RELIEF THAT THE GOVERNMENT HANDLES. Pakistan has a history of blatant corruption so DO NOT contribute to large nonprofits that work with the Pakistani government as the people will not get that aid. Instead do some actual research and contribute to local nonprofits/organizations that work directly with the people affected. If you are reading this and want to help but don't know where to start, reach out to me.

Until next week.
