Another update and it's a bit weird to talk about new music along with all the other dope subject matter I normally cover with all that's going on in Palestine and Isreal. I will continue to focus on new music cause that's why you came here and if you really REALLY wanna talk about it, reach out and we will. I will say this, posting your stance and making your voice heard is an essential part of human expression but listening, understanding, and being able to have empathy no matter what side you stand on is equally as important. Communication, real communication is key my fellow humans.

I Avocado festival'd Saturday in Carpentaria. From beverages to ice cream and everything in between all things were avocado-themed.

Sunday came quickly and I was hyped for New Noize. I played the OP music to Shangri-La Frontier, a crazy MMORPG-esq anime that you should check cause it rules! I mean the main protagonist is a human-masked bluebird who wears no armor and duel wields short blades. FZMZ's "BROKEN GAMES" is the perfect intro to this over-the-top comedic action anime romp. It has this undeniably large sound like "The Rumbling" OP from Attack On Titan. I'll make it easy:

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard has 3 new songs out currently and "set" is the New Noize Song of the Week. I am a sucker of chiptune and chiptune-like sounds and "set" sounds like it was produced by an overclocked gameboy pushing that DMG to places it hasn't been. King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard don't have breaks when releasing music with more new music in 1 year than most bands do during their entire catalog all while weaving in and out of subgenres effortlessly. Highly anticipating what the full LP will sound like.

Talking full LPs a lot we dove deep into more than a few records this past Sunday including  Yussef Dayes, The Rural Alberta Advantage, Axis Sova, Chris Shiflett, Butcher Brown, and Sufjan Stevens. For me, the New Noize Album of the Week goes to Slauson Malone 1 with EXCELSIOR. This record is hard to describe and that's what I like about it. Once you think you know where it is going you are somewhere else entirely. It has this exciting quality to it harmonizing its chaotic feel with these lo-fi avante-garde lite touches that are delightful especially if you like a hint of noise. It's kinda like Eyedress but nothing like it at the same time.

In BORIS related news Relapse just reissued "Klatter" a Boris & Merzbow collab that came out in 2011. Even though it's reissue it has never been pressed outside Japan so that is something. This was one record I couldn't find when I was in Japan in 2016 & was hunting for so I'll take it. I have spent a healthy portion of my vinyl budget on BORIS this year including buying a $150 Japanese Heavy Rock Hits Live -25th Anniversary Show- version which is different from the pressing of Heavy Rocks 2002 which I also got, both versions pressed on Thirdman. I also bought the Boris & Uniform album limited edition red wax which came out on Sacred Bones. If they release anything else I will be selling internal parts for scratch.

I'll check you next week.
