Yesterday was the last day of 45. I honestly can’t believe I’ve survived 46 years, but here we are.

I’ll keep this write-up short. I did have plans, but surprise life decided to start life-ing. So now I have no plans. I had the whole day mapped out, but I forgot to account for Murphy’s Law mixed with a little bit of Ahmed Luck.

So even though I suddenly have time, a lot of time, I’m choosing violence.

New Noize Song of the Week is Fcukers “If You Wanna Party, Come Over to My House” via Ninja Tune. Their album drops on the 27th… the same day as Dave Silva’s birthday. Coincidence? Definitely.

LP of the Week is actually an EP from Flying Lotus. Did I play the Big Mama EP in its entirety on the last New Noize? Yes. I had the rare opportunity to preview the whole thing early, and it’s been in constant rotation ever since.

Also make sure to check out the new record from Shabaka, Of the Earth. In another universe that easily could’ve been Album of the Week. It’s heavily layered spiritual jazz and the second you press play your inner vision will absolutely light up.

And for anyone concerned about my birthday plans don’t be I'm just being dramatic. As soon as I publish this, I’m stepping out, heading to the duck park, and reading Absolute Batman. I picked up volumes 1 & 2 and I’m ready to see if the hype is real.

What I can say genuinely is that I love doing New Noize, and I’ll keep trying to bring you as much new music goodness as possible.

Oh and like I do every year, I made a birthday playlist if anyone wants to check that out.

Alright.
See you next New Noize.
