Things are back to normal on the New Noize front unfortunately with no rockstar interviews but at least this playlist shines above any other new music mix when it comes to diversity of sound, artist & genre over the course of 2 hours and we casted a wide net this week.

Song of the week goes lofi with an emphasis on that "chill" with Park Hye Jin "Let's Sing Let's Dance" which is out now but will also be on her full length LP coming out later this year? I may die before her full length LP "Before I Die" actually comes out so until then enjoy all of this young Korean’s grooves via single format.

Album of the week was a hard one. New Yves Tumor EP smashes, I am a big fan of Koreless new album Agor & Typical Sisters "Love Beam" will one of the top "this album flew under your radar but should be in your top 21 of 21" Hell I even played a track from a live record that you can't get on stream at all (Bronx X Mariachi El Bronx live stream from music studio on Halloween and pressed with a candy corn colorway) BUT the one album that climbed to the top is Wavves "Hideaway". Has Wavves ever made a bad record? I don't think so and for me Hideaway is probably my favorites since their self titled record PLUS I dig it more than 2010's “King of the Beach”.

Next week be on the look out for metal on New Noize. I have been sitting on some surprises and I'm warning you now it will be aggressive, see you there????

LASTLY EID MUBARAK!!!! Tomorrow we celebrate, but since there is no other Muslims in SB, I will celebrate. Ok that is a bit of an exaggeration so me and the 80 other Muslims will celebrate. I do however challenge you to challenge the status quo and demand a day off in solidarity.

Yes, New Noize looks very different from previous weeks and that's due to an amazing conversation I had with Marko DeSantis during hour 1 of the show. You might know Marko from his other band, Sugarcult, but last night he came to represent Popsicko. Popsicko was one of the 1st bands Marko was in with some other Santa Barbara locals and their debut self release OFF TO A BAD START is being reissued on Big Stir Records. You can get "Nastassja" & "Gettin' Used To You" right now.

Also check out this informative Oral History of the Popsicko by S. W. Lauden here

Hour 2 was a nice mix of things but I didn't have the luxury of a 2 hour show so it's a bit more condensed but a killer hour nonetheless.

Album of the Week: A Place to Bury Strangers Hologram (Yes I know its an EP, but it's a DAMN GOOD EP)

Summer is officially here! I know cause I went from being cooped up in my apt to hitting any and every open venue I can find here in Santa Barbara. As the heat wave blanketed the west coast I too came in HOT with New Noize.

So many albums dropped this past Friday it was a bit ridiculous. I mean how can you choose an "Album of the Week" with bands/artists which included Daniel Avery, Doja Cat Hiatus Kaiyote, SPELLLING, John Carroll Kirby, Squirrel Flower, beabadoobee(I know this is an EP but whatever its amazing), The Mountain Goats, Pom Pom Squad & Birds of Maya. There was 1 stand out in this pack, and this human deserves his grammy like now. Album of the Week belongs to CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST by Tyler the Creator. Come the end of 2021 this album is going to be high on a lot of music snobs "best of" lists.

I will say that the new Birds of Maya record "Valdez" comes in at a close 2nd.

This weeks' "Song of the Week" belongs to "Smoke Break" by In The Whale out on Riot Records. This 1 track has me immensely curious on what the whole record is going to sound like.

Next Sunday is July 4th and I will be out of town so there will probably be no New Noize this Sunday unless something changes.

Ok what did I think of e3???? Excluding Devolver Digital who constantly brings their own flare and rewrites what a digital showcase is, the overall 2021 convention was trash until Nintendo stepped up to the plate. Advance Wars revived with updated graphics, Kazuya Mishima is going to be the newest character in Smash, WarioWare, and obviously Breath of the Wild 2 (coming out in 2022). Yes there is a new Metroid game coming out in October and I am stoked as it's a throwback to the 2d style while continuing the storyline which I will play day 1 BUT I WAS very upset not to see anything Metroid Prime 4 related, or a Metroid Prime bundle of the last 3 games AND NOTHING Bayonetta 3 related. It was not a great e3 compared to past e3 conventions. I must give Microsoft it’s props. It was an OK showing by them.

I went down to LA as a good friend opened a new lounge. It was fun but the first 10 minutes I had a bit of anxiety as I am still getting used to indoor venues.

Let's talk New Noize as this is why you came, right?

This weeks' "Song of the Week" was a bit difficult as I played a lot of incredible singles including Tyler, The Creator’s "LUMBERJACK, Yves Tumor’s "Jackie", The Marias’ "Hush" but I am going with "Chaise Longue" by Wet Leg. Wet Leg has some serious Dry Cleaning feels but has a stand alone sound so give "Chaise Longue" a chance.

"Album of the Week '' belongs to DC Dark Nights: Death Metal which is on Loma Vista records. What a roster of artists to represent the DC universe including IDLES, Denzel Curry, Chelsea Wolfe, HEALTH, Starcrawler, Soccer Mommy & Mastodon to name a few. The soundtrack is HEAVY, you have been warned.

As always I will be back this Sunday but will probably take next Sunday for July 4th, we shall how everything unfolds.
