How is it already September? Whenever I think things are returning to normal reality snaps me back into place. Hey, at least there was football this Sunday...

Sundays are also for New Noize and it was a fine mix up of new & upcoming jams for all to behold. I was surprised how laid back the majority of the show turned out, I am guessing that was the vibe.

New Noize Album of the Week is Amyl and The Sniffers "Comfort to Me" This record run time is barely over 30 minutes & will rip your skin off so you have someone to dance with if you are lonely.

The New Noize Song of the Week, much in the same vein as the "Album of the Week", goes to Iggy Pop & Matt Sweeney "European Son" & in stark contrast with the NNAOTW this song's run time of 7:45. However much like the NNAOTW "European Son" will blast through your body and will make your bones rattle. I highly recommend it if your calcium intake is at a healthy rate.

Oh did I mention I am seeing St Vincent next week on a school night? Yup me and Anne are gonna hang, and by hang I will watch from afar (well not that far) as she rocks my and the rest of the humans in attendance. Oh Oh did I fail to mention SPOON is opening?!?!?! Yeah that's happening. Oh Oh Oh I may also check out Rostam open for HAIM maybe....Its a maybe kinda week.

Hey there Tuesday must have been a long weekend since I am doing this update now and it was! Santa Barbara was nice and surprisingly chill on the tourist side but a bit on the hot. Shout outs to all my people dealing with fire on this side and floods on the other side of the country, my heart is with you.

New Noize was pretty kick as if you ask me but don't take my word for it, check that sweetly diverse playlist. Truth be told I had everything set up on Thursday and there were some newness that didn't make it on this past Sunday's show but will show up on this coming New Noize.

Album of the Week is an Album that is not out yet BUT has been promised to come out this month, MONO. It wouldn't be New Noize if I didn't play something from Japan and MONO new album “Pilgrimage of the Soul” check all my instrumental rock boxes. Look for its release later this month.

Allen Stone covered "Is This Love" and there was no way wasn't going to be New Noize's Song of the week, & i kicked off the show with Kamasi Washington's version of Metallica's "My Friend of Misery".

Also I have some killer live shows on the horizon that I am HYPED for.

Until next week my people.

What a weekend. Friday marked the return of Travis Touchdown via No More Heroes 3 & even though I am only a few hours into the 4th video game in this series (the 3rd & newest NMH is actually the 3rd installment) by Suda 51 I am already glowing with praise. This is why I play video games.

Saturday I went down to Salazar's Records in Ventura & picked up "Flood" on vinyl by BORIS. Flood came out in 2000 but has never been pressed on wax until thirdman records got involved, thanks Jack. I did not pick up "NO", the most recent BORIS record which was also pressed & released this past Friday as I was lucky enough to secure the 1st OG Japanese pressing.

As I was venturing south past Ventura I ended up at the Roxy & saw Eyedress do a show, which coincides with his latest release Mulholland Drive. Yes I went to a live show, indoors and it was AMAZING. Eyedress and Zarah killed it and it was nice to be back in this element. Everyone in the club was moving and grooving as he tore through his catalogue of music. Big ups to LEX records for hooking it up.

Ended up staying the night and hit up a friend's engagement party before doing my New Noize thing the next day. Oh and what a New Noize it was. There is so much amazing music coming out its difficult packing all of it into 2 hours.

Let's just get this out of the way, whether you like him or detest the man known as Kanye West he is undeniably one of the most popular humans on the planet. Opinions aside his impact to the current zeitgeist is palpable & this is why Kanye West's "DONDA" is New Noize's Album of the Week

A producer you should get up on is Felix Weatheral aka Ross from Friends. His latest track (out on Brainfeeder) "The Daisy" is the New Noize Song of the Week.

Lastly I want to express my love and sorrow of losing an ICON and genre maker, one of the most innovative & eccentric humans, Lee Scratch Perry. His impact, contributions and artistry will leave a lasting mark on the story of humanity.

Better late then never, apologies for the tardiness. Life is coming at me at all angles so I'll keep it brief.

I played a bunch of metal as a red full moon was rising on Sunday night's set, it felt like the right thing to do.

New Noize's Song of the Week belongs to Alice Longyu Gao with "Kanpei". I don't know if she is just going to keep releasing singles but to be honest I don't care. Also how is she still not signed???

SO many amazing records dropped this past Friday but the one who has the coveted New Noize Album of the Week is KUNZITE with "VISUALS". If you are looking to fill the void that Ratatat left, KUNZITE got you cause Ratatat is on at least half of all the tracks on this full length.

Lastly I watched Snake Eyes, it was ok.

See you next Sunday.
