Why do we suffer? These motherfuckcing Knicks, thats why.

What brings us joy? New Noize thats what! At least for me...

This past Sunday's set was not as diverse as past sets but had a bunch of hidden gems subtly placed for your new music discovery enjoyment.

I kicked off the show with Metro's BBL Drizzy. What a clap back and I dare you not to develop an earworm after listening. I'll just be walking and bursting out "BBL Drizzy" for no reason looking like a crazy person on these SB streets. I would care but the world is on fire.

The New Noize song of the week is Beabadoobee with "Take A Bite" It's a fun track that feels like that cool night where you can't go to sleep before a summer road trip.

New Noize Album of the Week was harder for me to pick. Both Les Savy Fav & How to Dress Well are back with killer albums plus the new Vacation record rips. So what did your boy pick? The original soundtrack to "I Saw The TV Glow" an A24 movie I have never heard of. You have new songs from Caroline Polachek, Jay Som, Drab Majesty, and 2 songs from a personal favorite King Woman.

Also, I am hyped for next week as I have St Vincent and Queens of the Stone Age lined up.

Oh, an no New Noize for Memorial Day weekend.

Happy Moms day.

The New Noize Song of the Week is "Million Dollar Baby" by Tommy Richman. Shoutouts to Tommy; the dude releases a single and it's sandwiched in-between Kendric and Drake's rap beef for the top streams of this week.

Alex Henry Foster & Momoka Tobari released a colab record "Kimiyo" and it's your New Noize Album of the Week.

I saw RLK on Friday here in Santa Barbara! First time seeing this legendary band in their hometown. If you know then you know.

I love rap beef.

Until next Sunday

The world is burning and I feel guilty that I had a good week. Feeling grateful. See what happens when that SoCal sun comes out for a solid week with no nonsense.

Slowdive at the Majestic on a Thursday. Mannequin Pussy at the Fonda on a Friday (plus I got to hand with the bassist rooftop style and he was a hilarious dude) EVO Japan was crazy amazing and yes I watched the live stream. Oh and let's not forget the Knicks playoffs!!!! Plus the NY Giants did some proper NFL draft moves. What a week.

I killed New Noize as always duhhhh. The New Noize song of the week goes to comeback kids Cults with "Crybaby". It sounds like them but only just barely. You can hear the evolution in their sound on this track. Will it pan out to a full record? Who cares the song is great.

Bringing all the "Hyperdrama" Justice's new record is the album of the week. I have been a bit too critical of this specific duo which all stems back from seeing them play a set in LA when they first broke out into the mainstream. "Hyperdrama" is a beast of a record and anyone who has listened to it knows its weight. All the guest spots are choice and compliment the vision of what this album is trying to say. One of my favorite moments (an there are many) on this record is "Moonlight Rende-vous" into the next track "Explorer". It's like they are playing this album on an old-school CRT then when "Moonlight Rende-vous" hits it's like someone switches from watching TV to playing video games. Specifically, Castlevania and these 2 tracks are pure Castlevania. I seriously thought I was busting through Dracula's castle as Alucard looking for papa vamps Symphony of the Night style.

This week I'm hoping for a Knicks W and some energy so if anyone knows any food hacks that will light me up like Mario on an invincible star that would be amazing. I'm waiting...

Don't you hate it when you do laundry, forget to put something in the washer, and realize there are only 7 minutes left in the cycle? That's my Monday so far...

The weekend was amazing! Khrungbin on Friday night at the Madonna Inn and had Black Forest Cake before the show. It was delicious. So was the show, Khrungbin did a 2-hour set, what more could a guy ask for.

New Noize was killer as always.

The New Noize album of the week is "pink balloons" by Ekko Astral. This record is amazing. It has everything I am looking for and New Noize is my show so it's really that simple. No critical analysis is needed, "pink balloons" is a killer record cover to cover.

The New Noize song of the week is Arooj Aftab "Raat Ki Rani". Growing up Pakistani "Raat Ki Rani" has always been around. Raat Ki Rani in Urdu means "Night Princess" or better translated as "princess of the night" (Raat-night Rani-princess) Raat Ki Rani is also a strain of jasmine plant that blooms at night. The fragrance it produces during the full moon brings me back to my high school summers when I would sneak into my house in the early AM and be assaulted by this floral aroma as I slinked back into my room, Allah willing undetected. Arooj Aftab's  "Raat Ki Rani" has nothing to do with my nostalgia but if you want to check out this Grammy award-winning vocalist do her thing in Urdu then this is the song for you.

420 was great, I got some solid herbal deals. I also participated in record store day, got the 10-year anniversary of Freddie Gibbs Madlib colab Pinata, and got a Sonic Youth record that I already owned. The one thing I wanted, the Black Breath Box Set, I could not find.

This week the party keeps going with Slowdive a Ventura Theater and hopefully Mannaquen Pussy at the Fonda. Saturday is free so if anyone is in LA and wants to do something let me know.

I’ll be back next Sunday.
