Post Memorial Day announces are in and yes there was New Noize on Sunday. I hope you enjoyed this past music mix.

The New Noize Song of the Week is "Baby, I Had An Abortion" by the Petrol Girls. Why? America.

HAAi dropped her full length this past Friday, "Baby, We're Ascending", on Mute and per the norm it's full of bangers and atmospheric aggression but way more laid back from "Systems Up, Windows Down ''. To witness her progression in both style and sound has been inspiring for how fast it seems to be going, at least looking from the outside. It's exciting like her music, yet I haven't had the pleasure of seeing her perform but I can say, with confidence, that recorded she goes HARD.

Side Note: I discovered a band I have never heard of, Kamikaze Nurse. Their new album Stimuloso is out this Friday (Side side note: this maybe could have been the album of the week if it came out this past Friday) Now I know what you are thinking, here is yet another Japanese band that I am trying to push BUT joke's on you they are from Vancouver, BC. I am still diving deep into their back catalogue (which happens to just be a single record, Bucky Fleur which came out in 2019 so a fairly new band). Do they have Sonic Youth tendencies, definitely. So much so that the track I played "P & O" sounds like it was ripped from "Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Star" era. Am I mad about this? ABSOLUTELY NOT. It is a fantastic record and you will be hearing more about them, at least here on New Noize.

It's been weird but good, right? Nailing in another New Noize and another show that hadoukens you to a multiverse of genre blending new music under the 2 hour mark. Like I say on the radio "This ain't your grandma's music, it's New Noize" but I bet even grandma was getting down.

Obviously BORIS locked down the Song of the Week, its a new BORIS song and they just announced ANOTHER NEW RECORD on ANOTHER LABEL!!! If that wasn't confusing enough their "new" album is going to be called "Heavy Rocks". I know you are yelling at me right now with "Haaris, don't they have 2 albums called 'Heavy Rocks'" the short answer would be a "Yes, yes they do ''. The long answer is the original Heavy Rocks came out in 2002 and the other Heavy Rocks album came out in 2011. If that isn't getting you dizzy this will, the 2002 Heavy Rocks only came out on CD which is incredibly strange as they usually only release vinyl (IT IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR STREAMING). The 2011 Heavy Rocks album started out as three 45s singles (so 6 songs) and if you were able to get the pack you got a bonus 45 with 1 song on there for a total of 7 songs, only to have a full length release on 1 record which has 10 songs on the LP(AVAILABLE FOR STREAMING). The new 2022 Heavy Rocks album is coming out on August 12th on relapse records (here in the States that is, remember they are still a Japanese band that deals with their own label with their own releases) WITH 7 DIFFERENT VINYL RELEASES!!!!! Yes 7, all different types from an ultra exclusive "friend of the label x family" version (only 100 pressed AND NO I DIDN'T GET ONE as they didnt let me buy it, and I'm a friend of the label, kinda haha sad face) to metallic gold pressing which is limited to 4,850. I managed to get the 3rd exclusive tier 12": Tri Color Merge with Splatter *LTD to 235*

Album of the Week coincidentally goes to another relapse label release, Cave In with "Heavy Pendulum" and yes I did play the title track on the show for those that are lost. I told you at the top this was going to be "weird but good". They have been around for a while but my man Steve kept feeding me singles as they were coming out and he knows what kinda stuff I really really like so thanks Steve. FYI I know many Steves but this Steve knows which Steve he is....STEVE

Memorial Day Weekend is upon us next week. Will there be New Noize this Sunday? Who knows? See you next week maybe?

Another Sunday in the books and what a weekend it was. This Friday brought us so much new music from some of the most anticipated artists to date.

Lets just get into it, specifically who is going to get the New Noize "Album of the Week" which was an almost impossible feat. Kikagaku Moyo is calling it quits and is on their final tour as a band, and while this is sad news they dropped their new one, Kumoyo Island, which is a masterwork of this bands sound. Warpaint released "Radiate Like This" and this collective DOES NOT put out bad records. I dare you play "Radiate Like This" and not let it ride cover to cover. Black Keys didn't even make it to this past Sunday's set that's how crazy this past Friday was. Pkew Pkew Pkew new record "Open Bar" was also just released and what a fun record. Florence + the Machine dropped "Dance Fever" and despite the name this record is NOT a disco record. It is however locked and loaded to be on a lot of peoples best of 2022 lists. In fact the artist that took the coveted Album of the Week samples an older F+TM song. I KNOW I KNOW I DIDN'T pick The Smile's new one, "A Light for Attracting Attention" and trust me if this record did not come out this would have been my pick. So what is the New Noize "Album of the Week '' Mr Duckworth aka Kendrick Lamar "Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers' '. I mean was there ever really a question?

The Song of the Week goes to Danger Mouse & Black Thought "No Gold Teeth" The last record Danger Mouse came out with was with Karen O, "Lux Prima" and that was my #1 Album for 2019. So I expect HUGE THINGS when the full length drops.

In a rare moment I took last Sunday off and it turns out that I like days off. Don't worry I came back this Sunday and tried my best to pack in as much new music as possible. This playlist really hits on a few offsetting genres where fringe, mainstream and the forever indie all get representation. Don't get used to it.

Song of the Week goes to J Rocc with "One". He did release another track called LA Anthem which you should check out as well. Hearing "One" just gets my blood all hyped for the new record out later this year.

Album of the Week(s) goes to young baklava Chef Action Bronson with Cocodrillo Turbo. This record is so Queens with ultra dynamic 70s samples plus hardcore nature sounds. Cocodrillo Turbo is arguably one of the most stylish hip hop records of 2022. Since I missed last week I wanted to hit another album, and that album is from Kisskadee. I LOVE THIS RECORD. The amount of contrast track by track, movement by movement is like plunging into an ice bath after working out in over 100 degrees. It is somber and sweet all at the same time. It's how I feel on the inside so check out "Black Hole Era" and yes I do now realize I played the title track off the record.

I got some things cooking with a stress on music that rarely makes it to any radio platform depending how things shake out.

Dr Strange was fantastic and my favorite part was Sam Raimi's comeback to Marvel. So much Evil Dead PLUS, not a spoiler cause he is in every movie he directs, but Bruce Campbell's cameo is only for the real ones (see that's NOT a spoiler).

Lastly, this past New Noize is dedicated to all the moms. I'm talking metal moms, indie moms, drunk before noon moms, religious moms, moms with active backhands moms, indifferent moms, waiting outside the venue moms, rock moms, doom moms, folk moms, aggressive moms, moms that aren't here but are here moms, cool moms, really cool moms, NYC moms, tiger moms, witchy moms, hippie moms, doctor moms, your mom and most importantly my mom. Call your mom.
