As I near my anniversary event horizon I reflect on forgotten previous versions who have become the biggest strangers I've known. Through the power of forward motion I got to drop another New Noize and here are some highlights off the playlist.

I kicked off the set with the New Noize Song of the Week from a band called Water From Your Eyes with their latest single "Barley" . It's dramatic in all the right places.

Tanukichan snatched up Song of the Week earlier this year so needless to say I was waiting for this to hit my inbox and as soon as it did it hit that permanent rotation. You know the album is good when you listen to it cover to cover, then immediately run it back. This album is kinda sad but not in a sad way if that makes sense. It has that dream pop texture with some serious fuzzy garage rock dankness that transports you into this emotional state far away from your present self. Tanukichan is not a new artist by any means but GIZMO is the record that people will listen to and then dive into the back catalog as soon as the album finishes. Also anyone that knows me knows how hard it was for me not to make Cracker Island the Album of the Week cause I am a fan of the Gorillaz and there are some BANGERS!

Talking about bangers Mando and Grogu are back and the bar for episode 1 of Seasons 3 of the Mandolorian is set to ULTRA HIGH. By the time the episode was over we had been to 3 worlds, met some classic friends, made some new enemies and set up to pick up key quest items for the final boss.

I KNOW I HAVE NOT BEEN TALKING ABOUT LAST OF US. Why, though? People are constantly asking me what I think of the HBO adaptation of one of the greatest narratives ever told in video games. Obviously I think it's a masterpiece of TV but I have been saying for decades that video games are a superior form of expressing narrative OVER film and TV every time. Never have I said the movie was better than the video game. There is one exception.

ANIME!!!!! Let's look at cyberpunk 2077, the game was an overall disaster mostly because of how broken it was on rollout. Then the anime came out which was one of the bigger surprises of last year and people returned to the video game, which was all patched up and was a different experience compared to when it was initially released.

Anime and animation are better mediums as their only constraints are the imagination and the almighty budget. But when anime does get an upper tier budget you get things like Attack on Titan. DID YOU SEE THE NEW EPISODE?!?!?!?! If you know, you know and if you don't you never will.

I'll be back Sunday after completing 15,695 days give or take a few...

This is the kinda New Noize set I love to do, mainly because there were a ton of full length releases that need your attention. Like Esben the Witch? Check out the new album by Black Belt Eagle Scout "The Land, The Water, The Sky'' Feeling kinda trashy, give the new Hammerhedd record "Nonetheless" a listen. If cover songs of the Country or should I say Cuntry is your thing Sub Pop got you covered with Bria latest EP "Cunrty Covers Vol. 2". Do you like anime the way I like anime? Then check out Miss Grit's "Follow the Cyborg". Aggressiveness you style? "SHOOK" the new LP by Algiers is your jam. Want something just plain old fantastic, fun and free? US Girls' "Bless This Mess" will make you cry in all the right ways. This week's New Noize Album of the Week belongs to shame. "Food for Worms" is a record that is on constant repeat, every song is dramatically different from the next and every listen has revealed something new. Sometimes it's beautiful, sometimes it's ugly but it's there and so are you so take it.

New Noize Song of the Week wasn't any easier to lock down. I rarely pick songs from album drops and I am not going to start now BUT if I did I would have selected US Girls' "Tux (Your Body Fills Me, Boo)". It is a song from the perspective of a hyper neglected Tux and yes it's even more amazing than it sounds. The New Noize Song of the Week belongs to SoCal's heartthrob Cuco with "Best Disaster". It's like silk and honey fused inside both your ear holes.

So I am taking suggestions on what video game I should play before May's madness. I finally finished Final Fantasy Crisis Core Reunion and I DID NOT CRY at the end. I don't know if I am going to platinum trophy the game BUT I do plan on beating Minerva at some point this week. I have yet to platinum trophy FFVII Remake and haven't even touched the interGRATE DLC as I want to replay all this before FFVII Rebirth drops this winter. I am a HUGE Metroid Prime fan but don't know if I can play remakes back to back. I have never played Dead Space. OctoPath Traveler II is also out. I was thinking about getting back into Destiny with Lightfall about to drop. HELP ME DECIDE.

I have been hitting that retro anime pretty hard. I have never watched Hajime no Ippo and it's SO GOOD. How did this fly under my radar? I also found out that Memories is streaming on Amazon (Magnetic Rose is AMAZING) along with Robot Carnival is streaming on Crunchyroll and with the recent cold snap it makes sense to stay in and rewatch these classics. If you have never seen either of these, let's call them films, you really REALLY should. Even if you are not a fan of anime this is something else.

BUT THE ONE I AM WAITING FOR IS FINALLY RELEASING THIS WEEK. ATTACK ON MOTHERFUCKING TITAN FINAL SEASON PART 3 EPISODE 1 IS OUT THIS SATURDAY. This 1st episode is actually 3 episodes long so an hour of AoT which I am excited about. What I am not excited about is how they are rolling this out, which is annoying AF and I am being nice about it. Apparently there will be 24 episodes in the final season (4th season) third and hopefully final part. The “Final Season” will be split into two sections of 12.

Episode 1: Saturday, March 4, 2023
Episode 2: Saturday, March 11, 2023
Episode 3: Saturday, March 18, 2023
Episode 4: Saturday, March 25, 2023
Episode 5: Saturday, April 1, 2023
Episode 6: Saturday, April 8, 2023
Episode 7: Saturday, April 15, 2023
Episode 8: Saturday, April 22, 2023
Episode 9: Saturday, April 29, 2023
Episode 10: Saturday, May 6, 2023
Episode 11: Saturday, May 13, 2023
Episode 12: Saturday, May 20, 2023

Good news is MAPPA claims that part four will continue in 2023. Let's hope they don’t pull some "final movie" nonsense at the end and give this Attack On Titan the proper finale it deserves. For now check out this trailer:

A Sunday off last week because of the Super Bowl and a Monday off yesterday plus Wind storms and power outages yesterday means the New Noize Update comes in today.

By the way if you gave me 10 opportunities to pick what RiRi would have opened her return to performing live i would have not have guessed "Bitch Better Have My Money".

This past Sunday I packed 2 weeks worth of new music into the set but to be honest there is so much new music to sort through it feels like every week I have to cut out a decent chunk to squeeze into a 2 hour set.

The Song of the Week belongs to Beck with "Thinking About You". The New Noize album of the week is  "All Fiction" by Pile.

A week before the big game, New Noize once again showed up to play. This set was diverse but a bit more subtle then all the things that went down this Sunday We had the Grammys, the pro bowl, Last Of Us and I got an air fryer. I know I am late to the air fryer gang but now is my time to make non oven wings and the hype is real. You aren't here for my french fry mastery, you want that New Noize.

Song of the week was difficult as always, so many bangers including Unknown Mortal Orchestra, The Rural Alberta Advantage, Lael Neale & Yves Tumor but this Sunday's spotlight belonged to mui zyu with "Ghost with a Peach Skin". I had a listener call in and say "what the fuck is this?" I replied simply with "Its fuckin fantastic" The dial tone respone was a tell tale sign that the caller totally agreed with me.

New Noize album of the week was the highly anticipated Young Father's album "Heavy Heavy". These cats can DO NO WRONG. This album casts a wide net and is all over the place cross blending genres and styles in a uniquely digestible sound that will make you groove but question why you are grooving. This is one of those records that every listen is a bit different and begs you to listen to it in different settings. It fits any emotional obit.

There will be no New Noize next Sunday due to the Super Bowl, maybe...
