Sorry for taking last Sunday off. Why you may ask...

Well as of 3/9 this will be my final year being in my 30s. Yes its a weird coincidence that I turned 39 on 3/9. I did a lot of stuff, went to Desert X in Palm Springs/Coachella/Salton Sea (I'll post some pictures on this site) saw some Tennis, saw Nicole Moudaber saw Julia Holter, went to a rave and ate at many MANY fine establishments including Manuelas & Petit Trois in LA. It was a good weekend but i think I'm still paying for it weeks later. So yeah, older, wiser, & better overall. I hate getting older but damn sun it looks good on me.

Enough ego stroking here is the most recent New Noize playlist. SO MUCH AMAZING in 2 hours. Too many good rerecords to count so I advise to just hit play on track 1 of the playlist and let that bitch ride.

See you next Sunday.

PS check out Love, Death & Robots. If you grew up with anime in the late 80s and 90s this level of maturity will not shock you, if you are new to the anime game then strap in.

Fresh off the heels of its a start of a new week which means another New Noize in the books. Started the show off with 2 shades of metal from Japan. MONO new release did come out in January so I was a bit late out the gate but better late than never. Nowhere, Now Here is fantastic. Another record that I have been pumping on the last few shows was the new EDON record, Boy Meets Girl. If you are a fan of this band or Noise Rock in general this is a must pick.

I hit the video game soundtracks pretty hard. ToeJam and Earl are back next week. I reached out to the developers and they were more than happy to give me this OST early to drop some intergalactic funkatron audio, seriously Big Earl has some sweet bass line licks. ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove! launches March 1st on Steam, Xbox 1, PS4, and Nintendo Switch digital stores. It's an all new adventure game...from 1991. Grab a homie and play a new gig every time. Katana Zero is coming out "soon" via Devolver Games and if you know that game company than you know they games they put put have killer soundtracks (Hotline Miami) Katana Zero devs were not so giving but thats cool, i got a free single that I spun on this past weeks show, download it here. Oh and I hit the another track off the Wargroove OST, game is BANANAS hard but the ultra cute pixel art and dynamic soundtrack keep me focused as I make poor strategic RTS decisions.

HOW HAVE YOU NOT PICKED UP CZARFACE MEETS GHOSTFACE OR MALIBU KEN YET? Both albums are hyper strange and crazy good. Also follow Esoteric Instagram account, especially if you are 35+ and into hip-hop, its hilarious. Right now hes beefing with GENIUS the app that puts out lyrics, his flaming of the company is relentlessly and provides nonstop humor.

Can Stephen Malkmus do any wrong? IDK but the dude is incapable of writing a bad song, this guy is the Master Roshi of indie rock.

***SIDE NOTE---Could you imagine if the #MeToo movement applied to Master Roshi, dude would be done***

Also I have no idea who WAAX is but WAAX is the jam so I must dive deeper.

Last thing, big ups to the Spider-Verse webbing up an Oscar, if you haven't watched this movie and are from the Tri-State and are a person of color prepare to get emotional.

WHY IS IT SO DAMN COLD IN SANTA BARBARA? I mean for reals. Yes i get it "its not the east coast". AS the locals would respond "whatever", what can i say over the past 15 years or so my body has acclimated to this temperature and global warming is messing up my scene.

If global warming is bring you down at least you have New Noize, which is partially powered by solar, and what a solar powered 2 hour show it was. So much new music is dropping this year its a bit ridiculous.

I am going to highlight 1 thing that should be on your radar for all my collaborations head out there. Just to be clear I am not talking about the recent Les Claypool Sean Lennon "The Claypool Lennon Delirium" collab (which EVERYONE should be on as I have played the crap out of this the past few weeks) I am talking about Malibu Ken. Sporting one of the ugliest album covers of an adolescent garbage pale kid, Malibu Ken is comprised of Aesop Rock and TOBACCO. Both these cats are weird stand alone but combined they produce a record that resets your notion of traditional musical genres. Its abstract, experimental, brash & a whole-lotta fun. If you are looking for an album that is extremely different but very familiar this is your record, trust in your boy.

the Umbrella Academy is out on Netflix and holy #5 this show has taken over the month of February. This one hits all the bells and whistles of how a comic book series should be translated. Netflix can stop producing amazing comic book adaptations and this one is up there. The cast was selected perfectly, each actor brings these people to life and please PLEASE give whoever the show-runner is a high five form me. Oh and #5, thats my DUDE. Oh did I mention that Mary J Blige is an assassin, spoiler alert. in Now I am just waiting for Netflix to announce a 2nd season then at its height suddenly pull it like they have ALL the MARVEL series.

Last thing last., Desus and Mero are back on Showtime, so now I have to buy showtime. The brand is strong.

See you next Sunday.
