SoCal is known for a few things, bikini weather, skate parks, tacos, and great cheeba. Only one of those things were true this weekend as mother nature tore thru Santa Barbara like a viking warlord rolling up on English soil. I LOVE CALIFORNIA! With that said these cats can't drive in the rain. Being from the Tri-State we get all sorts of weather and all walks of life and when you combine the 2 you get some of the most foul mouthed yet responsible motorists America has to offer. Not so much on the west side my friends, pretty sure they think "hydroplaning" is a new way to grow marijuana.

No worries, I made it through stormpacolypse 2017 with full power, no flooding and put in some serious netflix hours. Plus I delivered yet another over the top 2 hours of new music for all the brave souls that were out in the muck. Got a few phone calls from people that resorted to listening to their radios as they had no power and no internet (thanks mother nature)

This week I am looking forward to seeing my brown brother Hanni El Kahtib thursday night and dropping another killer New Noize come Sunday. Until then...

This past Sunday the "Industry" was out in full force for the Grammys. I always have mixed feelings about this particular awards show, namely who wins. I mean I think we all would agree the Adele has an incredible voice and can blow the pants off of anyone who steps up into her domain EXCEPT FOR THE BOSS LEVEL RPG G-O-D BEYONCE.

How Lemonade didn't dominate the Grammys landscape is beyond me, I mean did you see her performance? Looking like a remixed Shiva with gold on gold on gold she mesmerised all eyes, the only thing missing was psilocybin mixing with my blood to enhance the visuals she was throwing. Talking about performances that's what I'd rather focus on and there were some standouts. Bruno did his Prince thing, and yes Lady GaGa donned the metal veil and joined Metallica, broken mics and all. The night belonged to the TRIBE though. After Anderson Paak wowed the crowed the on-stage transition revealed Busta Bust aka Busta Rhymes flanked by the one and only Tip aka Q-Tip talking directly to the Cheeto in charge and proceeded to medly some new and old Tribe Called Quest tracks. Oh and MEGADEATH  beat out Metallica for an award, so that's a 1st. My favorite Grammy moment didn't even happen on-stage, it was going on during the entire awards show and it was centered around the snubbed but loved Rihanna. RiRi brought a diamond studded flask cause you know, shes a badass.

New Noize was pretty dope this past Sunday as well. I PLAYED NEW MIA!!!!!!!! POWA gives me power, they hype levels are over 9000.

I also got my mits on the new Priests album and it has been in constant rotation on my iPod(classic status). I dived deeper into some new full lengths  releases including SOHN, Sampha, Japandroids & Thievery Corporation.

See ya next Sunday...

Did you see what Lady GaGa did last night? So did I!!! How much gusto does this little white lady have? I DON'T CARE what anyone says, the amount of bravery it takes to jump off the roof of the Houston Texans Dome is something very few people have and apparently Lady GaGa is one of those people. Plus you know the whole thing about the New England Patriots coming back from the biggest Super Bowl deficit EVER! As a NY Giants fan there are few things I hate more than the Patriots (the Cowboys hold that #1 hate spot) but even I can appreciate the immense talent of Tom FREAKING Brady. That guy threw for over 400 yards and willed that win, pretty fantastic stuff. If you are an Atlanta Falcons fan odds are you probably called out sick this Monday. What a game.

This Sunday was also witness to another New Noize.

*****Brief side note, I have covered the Reggae specialty show “The Reggae Soundclash” for the past 3 weeks now, pretty sure I’m sporting dreads*****

Each Sunday keeps getting better not because I can weave some amazing playlists, it’s because there is so much new music coming out its a bit like 2016 all over again (not a bad thing). During the New Noize set I got in some deeper cuts form the new Strand of Oak,Ty Segall, Japandroids and Bonobo. Father John Misty has released 3 new songs (and videos) as of today and they hype just keeps growing for his upcoming record. The super group Crystal Fairy keeps impressing with their new single Chiseler. Despite the woes that are being felt in the A-T-L area after those dirty birds did not finish comes great news. One of my “unicorn bands”(bands for some reason the cosmos don’t want me to see live) Mastodon has released a new single and you know your boy spun it.

In gaming news nothing…JK yo. I was thinking about picking up Nioh, but then I read a review saying this was “Dark Souls with Samurais” and I quickly lost interest. BUT For Honor has sparked the fire of interest and I will be rocking that come Valentines day.
