BIG UPS to the parents, 39 years ago on 3/12 they were married and have been together ever since. 39 years is a LONG FREAKING TIME to be with someone, don't know how they do it but I'm glad they are still driving each other crazy.

Also watched the latest King Kong flick, Skull Island, it was dope. It takes place in the 70's and the soundtrack is fantastic! Led Zeppelin, CCR, and Black Sabbath to name a few jams while you stuff your face with butter popcorn and sweet fizzy cola. Don't want to give to much away but they are definitely setting up for a "monster island" type situation. All we need now is DOOM to score the soundtrack to this next movie and we are set.

Talking monsters, sets and soundtracks I took off last sunday (cause there was an inner war devastating my body) but was back this past Sunday and released a Kaiju of new music. Got to tear into the full lengths of The Feelies (still making killer records), Jay Som, Cohen Beats, Findlay, Crystal Fairy and of course Thundercat.

Also can we just sub pop for a moment, this Seattle label is going a bit bananas with there new music releases. New tracks from this playlist alone had Afghan Wigs, Rolling Blackouts CF, Porter Ray and Father John Misty. Oh and I have it on good authority that their sister label will be sending me a new track from a band that made my top 10 BEST OF New Noize 2016.

This week's surprise came from a record that came out in 2016. Its very rare, VERY RARE, that I would break my own rules, but its my freaking show so I had to. An anonymous hommie on FB of all places directed me to a "boiler room" video session of an artist from the Osaka Prefecture, Kiki Hitomi. She's labeled a "reggae artist" but she is oh so much more. Fusing electronic sludge, dissasant dub and a whole lotta chiptune with vocal manipulation doesn't even scratch the surface of her sound and artistry, I'm done describing her she needs to be heard. Another tasty morsel was came from the new NO LIFE EP, its killer.

The major snag from this Sunday was that I didn't have an extra 20 something minutes, I had to cut a nice chunk from the new music discovery pie. No worries I will be back next Sunday and will make sure to hit up the tasty drops I missed from this past Sundays set.

Last thing and this ones for Moms cause I know she reads the write ups, I made it once more round the sun this past week! Thanks mom.

It was the Oscars last night and this gif says is all. There were some dope moments but for me it was history to FINALLY SEE A FUCKING MUSLIM WIN A MOTHERFUCKING OSCAR! There is something to be said to see yourself in someone else, and during these politically charged times for Muslims around this nation, especially the youth, it was a moment where this one individual won an accolade of the highest degree in his craft and happened to be a Muslim. It shows that if you work hard you will be recognized despite all the madness that is cascading throughout our current culture. Mashallah Mahershala Ali.

And come hell, high water or Oscars on Sundays we do NEW NOIZE baby! This Oscar Sunday was no different and I must say that this set is one of my better ones, mostly due to the fact that my inbox is overflowing with stacks of new music. Seriously I tried to squeeze a 3 hour set into 2 hours, which is mathematically impossible and yet I still attempted it (silly Ahmed)

SoCal is known for a few things, bikini weather, skate parks, tacos, and great cheeba. Only one of those things were true this weekend as mother nature tore thru Santa Barbara like a viking warlord rolling up on English soil. I LOVE CALIFORNIA! With that said these cats can't drive in the rain. Being from the Tri-State we get all sorts of weather and all walks of life and when you combine the 2 you get some of the most foul mouthed yet responsible motorists America has to offer. Not so much on the west side my friends, pretty sure they think "hydroplaning" is a new way to grow marijuana.

No worries, I made it through stormpacolypse 2017 with full power, no flooding and put in some serious netflix hours. Plus I delivered yet another over the top 2 hours of new music for all the brave souls that were out in the muck. Got a few phone calls from people that resorted to listening to their radios as they had no power and no internet (thanks mother nature)

This week I am looking forward to seeing my brown brother Hanni El Kahtib thursday night and dropping another killer New Noize come Sunday. Until then...

This past Sunday the "Industry" was out in full force for the Grammys. I always have mixed feelings about this particular awards show, namely who wins. I mean I think we all would agree the Adele has an incredible voice and can blow the pants off of anyone who steps up into her domain EXCEPT FOR THE BOSS LEVEL RPG G-O-D BEYONCE.

How Lemonade didn't dominate the Grammys landscape is beyond me, I mean did you see her performance? Looking like a remixed Shiva with gold on gold on gold she mesmerised all eyes, the only thing missing was psilocybin mixing with my blood to enhance the visuals she was throwing. Talking about performances that's what I'd rather focus on and there were some standouts. Bruno did his Prince thing, and yes Lady GaGa donned the metal veil and joined Metallica, broken mics and all. The night belonged to the TRIBE though. After Anderson Paak wowed the crowed the on-stage transition revealed Busta Bust aka Busta Rhymes flanked by the one and only Tip aka Q-Tip talking directly to the Cheeto in charge and proceeded to medly some new and old Tribe Called Quest tracks. Oh and MEGADEATH  beat out Metallica for an award, so that's a 1st. My favorite Grammy moment didn't even happen on-stage, it was going on during the entire awards show and it was centered around the snubbed but loved Rihanna. RiRi brought a diamond studded flask cause you know, shes a badass.

New Noize was pretty dope this past Sunday as well. I PLAYED NEW MIA!!!!!!!! POWA gives me power, they hype levels are over 9000.

I also got my mits on the new Priests album and it has been in constant rotation on my iPod(classic status). I dived deeper into some new full lengths  releases including SOHN, Sampha, Japandroids & Thievery Corporation.

See ya next Sunday...
