IM BACK BABY!!!!! 1st off big ups to all the people who met up with me while I was on the east coast. We laughed, we cried and we talked shop. It was great to finally meet up in the flesh with these industry cats that I have worked with for almost 10 years. It was long overdue and I look forward too being more social in “real life” rather than leaning on my digital self. ALSO must give a quick shout out to Ricky Biggs, who once again covered New Noize while I was galavanting all over the tri-state. Thanks bro.
Onto this past weeks New Noize. This is the last week for specialty spins until everyone and their mom goes on hiatus of the rest of the year. This week I wanted to showcase some new releases coming out before the new year and some that have just released but may not be on your radar.
I kicked off the show with some L.A. Law coming out of burger records and as it was described to me its not your typical “burger” release. L.A. Law sounds like the backing band for Prince from 1988 to 1992. A lot of electro funky synth blanketed by the lead vocalist perfectly pitched sound transports the listener to a time where 8-tracks and gas guzzling cars ruled the streets.
I hit the new Lane-8 track “Atlas” which is a must add to any gamers playlist when battling alien life or just cruising in your intergalactic spacecraft. If want to get a bit laid back then I recommend Loma’s “Black Widow” Turn the lights to real low, turn up the aroma therapy and bump this jam. When talking about jams from the 1st hour I MUST mention Bekon “Cold as Ice”, I meant just watch this video:
Hour 2 I came in swinging with some Ty Segall covering Hot Chocolates “Every 1’s a Winner”. Is there anything this dude can’t do? Really excited about U.S. Girls 2018 release and if it’s anything like their new single “Velvet is 4 Sale” I am stoked. Got to see Tune-Yards last week in Santa Barbara and she is always so amazing live. I also got to play her new single “ABC-123” and much like her its a must see (or listen, you know what I meant). I snuck in some metal via Harms Way “Human Caring Capacity” cause I can and ended the show with Jim James.
We are coming up on the “Best of 2017” for New Noize and it will not disappoint. 2017 has been a stand out year for new music and hopefully the Best of New Noise 2017 will live up to the HYPE.
AND LASTLY IT’S MOTHERFUCKING LAST JEDI TIME!!!!!! I have been waiting decades for Luke to take center stage once more and I can feel the force course through my veins, can you? How are they gonna top “I’m your Father” from Empire Strikes back? Will Luke or Rey turn to the dark side? What’s the deal with Kylo sun? We will finally get to see Ben Solo’s backstory and transformation to Kylo Ren. I am hyperventilating right now and have to stop typing.
